What will EMBRC deliver in the future?
EMBRC Scientific Strategy Report (Deliverable D2.2). Full report in PDF
EMBRC aims at delivering services to the marine community and increasing numbers of scientists who have turned to marine model organisms to investigate fundamental questions in biology such as:
- Models for fundamental research, biomedicine, biomineralization etc.
- Unique structures, metabolic pathways, reproductive systems, and sensory and defense mechanisms
- Comparative, environmental and functional genomics/genetics of marine models and ecosystems
- Microorganisms (biotechnology, and bioenergy)
- Knowledge underpinning sustainable resources
- Ecosystem change.
But EMBRC also aims at:
- Reinforcing links to other ESFRI Ris
- Contributing towards an interoperable global marine knowledge system
- Establising an open platform for data sharing
- Implementing standardized procedures of data gathering, evaluation, storage and calibration to optimize interoperability among RIs
- Providing up-to-date research infrastructures across Member States
- Fostering interdisciplinary research and innovation capabilities
- Promoting mobility and exchange of knowledge and personnel between industry and academia.
