Under the coordination of EMBRC-ERIC, the Scientific Project Manager and Access Officer will closely follow the implementation of the Assemble+ project, with a focus on the Joint Research Activity, Transnational Access Activity and Networking Activity which the project will deliver.

Brief Description of the EMBRC
The European Marine Biological Resource Centre (EMBRC) is a distributed pan-European research infrastructure that aims to provide a strategic delivery mechanism for excellent and large-scale marine science in Europe. With its services, EMBRC will support both fundamental and applied research based on marine bioresources and marine ecosystems. The EMBRC is centrally managed by the EMBRC Executive Director, with the support of the EMBRC Secretariat, based at the Paris Headquarters, hosted by Université Pierre et Marie Curie - Paris VI, Campus of Jussieu. Brief Description of the project
ASSEMBLE Plus will provide scientists from academia, industry and policy with a quality-assured programme of Transnational Access (TA) and Virtual Access (VA) to marine biological stations offering a wide variety of marine ecosystems, unique marine biological resources, state-of-the-art experimental and analytical facilities with integrated workflows, historical observation data, and advanced training opportunities. The goal is to stimulate European excellence in fundamental and applied research in marine biology and ecology, thereby improving our knowledge- and technology-base for the blue economy, policy and education purposes. 


Job Mission and Objectives
EMBRC is looking for a motivated and proficient Scientific Project Manager and Access Officer to support the implementation of the Assemble Plus EU H2020 project, which EMBRC-ERIC coordinates.

Main Responsibilities
Main responsibilities include:

  • Closely follow the development of the A+Joint Research Activities, for keeping their schedule on track as well as provide visibility to the activity outputs;
  • Hands-on assistance to the A+Trans-national Access programme, including managing project applications through the online platforms, proposal evaluation through the User Selection Panel, coordination of partners activities in response to access provision;
  • Support the development of the A+ Networking Activities, ensuring visibility and impact;
  • Support the EMBRC-ERIC Executive Director and A+ project Coordinator with the management of the project’s activities for an impactful implementation, including reporting to the project managers and EU evaluation Committee.


Essential Skills and Competences

  • Minimum qualification: Ph.D. in Natural/Biology/Life Sciences or equivalent;
  • Minimum four-year experience in similar role;
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English;
  • Ability to read and summarise articles/reports of technical, scientific, and administrative nature;
  • Excellent presentation and reporting skills, in writing and verbally;
  • Excellent computer literacy, including command of MS Office package and ability to operate on multiple platforms (Apple and Windows operating systems);
  • Proven experience in the publication of communication material of high quality;
  • Data analysis skills for analytical reports;


Desirable Skills and Competences

  • IT skills (database management, website content management, programming languages);
  • Command of Image processing software (i.e.: Adobe Illustrator; Photoshop, others)
  • French language and other EU languages, in addition to English;
  • Knowledge of EMBRC;

Competitive salary, commensurate to titles and experience.

Full-time, one-year contract, with 6-month probation;
Overtime may be required to meet project deadlines;
National and international travel may be required for the purpose of meeting with project partners, stakeholders, etc.
