Join us in Advancing Marine Science for a Sustainable Future
EMBRC is dedicated to advancing our knowledge of ocean biodiversity and finding sustainable solutions to environmental and societal problems. Our pan-European network of marine stations and research organisations works with academia, the private sector, policymakers and international organisations to further our understanding of marine life and how to use ocean resources sustainably.
If you want to discuss how we can work together to boost our understanding of the ocean and move towards a sustainable future, we’d love to hear from you.
EMBRC offers services, resources, and expertise to ensure researchers have everything they need to produce new scientific knowledge and make important discoveries. We can facilitate access to unique ecosystems and biodiversity across Europe through field sampling, biobanks and culture collections. We offer access to data, experimental facilities, technology platforms, and equipment. Through our Marine Training Unit (MTU), we foster knowledge transfer and promote advanced and specialised training sessions that support all communities in the marine research sector and the sustainable Blue bioeconomy.
To find out how to access our services, please visit the EMBRC Services webpage.
Our long-term marine biodiversity observation network EMO BON brings together individual European biological observation stations to fill the gaps in marine biological observation and advance our knowledge of the ocean.

EMBRC is committed to engaging with industry to advance blue growth across Europe, boost innovation and speed up sustainability discoveries. Our team has the tech expertise to help industrial researchers bridge knowledge gaps and design appropriate solutions to their R&D challenges.
We’re particularly focused on three key industry areas: aquaculture, marine biotechnology, and ocean observation. Our support for Research and Development activities enables industry partners to develop science-based innovations, reduce the risk involved in creating new technologies, fine-tune their proof of concept, and increase their innovation’s Technology Readiness Level.

Our data about the biological composition of marine ecosystems and how they are responding to threats and human pressures can help policymakers and decision-makers develop effective, science-based biodiversity management and monitoring strategies.
If you’re a policymaker or government decision-maker and would like to discuss how we can provide evidence to help you address pressing global sustainability and societal issues, please contact us.

EMBRC works with respected organisations around the world that have strong expertise in the marine or research sectors. Some of our partners include the UN, UNESCO, OBON, Mercator Ocean, EMODnet, CRNS, EMBL, Tara Foundation, Institut Français de Recherche pour l’Exploitation de la Mer (Ifremer), and more.
We provide data, information, and expertise to help decision-makers find solutions to sustainability challenges through informed, science-based actions. Through our network, organisations, environmental agencies, or NGOs can collaborate with experts across the globe to coordinate efforts to gather marine data and manage ocean resources, share knowledge and resources, and improve ocean biodiversity monitoring, observation, and management methods.

If you’re a journalist working on a story about ocean science or marine management, we can provide supporting data and comment for your stories as well as facilitating interviews with researchers across our network. We’re also open to discussing partnerships and collaborative communications campaigns with like-minded organisations.
