After our conversation with Carmem Manes at MicroSense, the EMBRC Tech Webinar series returns with a new session on marine observation, this time focusing on how emerging technologies are helping us better understand, monitor, and protect our marine ecosystems.

In this session, Justine Pagnier, conservation ecologist and PhD at the University of Gothenburg, will join EMBRC’s Industrial Liaison Officer Mery Piña to explore how tools such as eDNA, ARMS (Autonomous Reef Monitoring Structures), and imaging technologies are transforming environmental monitoring. The conversation will also touch on how these methods can support sustainable development in key marine sectors like fisheries, aquaculture, and offshore energy.

What to expect:
  • Insights into how marine observation data informs marine management and conservation
  • Applications of eDNA and omics tools for detecting non-indigenous species (NIS)
  • The role of standardised data in large-scale marine monitoring networks
  • Opportunities and challenges in supporting the Blue Bioeconomy through better environmental monitoring
